Day 8: 18 Night Transpacific Cruise - Moorea

Jim woke up about 2:00 a.m. and the ship was just throwing the lines to leave Papeete. Don't know why we were so late leaving but we didn't have very far too go. Probably less than 100 nautical miles.

Our second port of call was Moorea. This was a tender port and again we were up before we'd made it to where we were going to throw the anchor.

We ate a quick breakfast before getting ready to get off the ship. Valerie had gotten priority tender tickets for us so we could cut the line to get on the tender!

We had gotten off the ship earlier than expected, so we had to wait a few minutes for our transportation to come pick us up. While we were waiting, the President of French Polynesia came to the pier to officially open the three new buildings (at least I think that's what he was doing there - it was pandemonium so it was hard to figure out exactly what was said). The President is the guy holding the straw hat!

Albert Tours was our transportation to/from the Hilton where we were spending the day. Our driver was 19 years old and such a nice kid! For $85 each, we had the use of the Hilton's facilities. Jelly fish had washed up on the shore that morning so it was recommended we didn't snorkel so we spent our time in the pool which was absolutely wonderful. I looked at the price sheet for the accommodation over the water - YIKES - I don't think I can afford to stay there! No matter, the property is beautiful and we enjoyed it while we were there!

Our day pass included lunch and it was very good but so filling! We barely had enough room to eat dessert! We could also use their kayaks and paddle boards but it was too windy so the red flag was out. Jim had wanted to try the paddle board, too.

And lo and behold, Bonnie & Dave made it after waiting and waiting to hear from Hilton to see if they were going to get day passes too! In the afternoon, we were told it "should" be okay to go snorkeling (remember the jelly fish were out in the morning). Bonnie & Dave were brave enough to go out!

On our way back to the ship, our driver pulled over to let us get a good shot of the ship!

For every tender port, the ship has been having ice cold wash cloths for us at the pier and ice water available as we wait for the tenders. An ice cold wash cloth on my hot face really does a lot to cool me down!

We were back on track for drinks and dinner tonight. Still haven't made it to any show though! The heat and humidity really zap it out of you even if you're doing nothing but laying in the shade or swimming in the pool! Maybe one day before we get off the ship we'll take in a show! But I'm not holding my breath waiting! LOL

We had another towel animal tonight!
