We knew the drive would be well over 6 hours especially with all the traffic. The stop and go traffic is just ridiculous. There are just too many people in Florida! We saw lots of snowbirds heading north as well.
When we were coming into Tampa we came over this really crazy tall bridge. I think it's called the Sunshine Bridge and I'm not sure but I think the cruise ships go under it and that's why it's so tall. I guess I will verify that first hand tomorrow!
We didn't stop for lunch since we had snacks in the car. We decided once we got checked into the hotel that we'd go ahead and return the rental car to the airport and have the hotel pick us up. They had a shuttle that would take us to the cruise terminal the next morning for only $10/person so we decided to go that route instead of dealing with all of that the morning of the cruise.
After we had dinner, returned the rental car, and got back to the hotel, we did laundry so we'd have clean clothes once we got to the cruise ship the next morning!
